There are diverse kinds of narratives and organizing principles. We know that the Sun exists. We don’t have knowledge of that Tutelary exists. We find credible that Genius exists - but we don’t and cannot recognize it, in the well-regulated discrimination of the word.

We can design experiments to trump up (try wrong) the being of electrons, quarks, and black holes (and, as a consequence, if all these experiments fail, test that electrons, quarks, and gloomy holes an existence). We can also sketch out experiments to corroborate that electrons, quarks, and black holes exist.

But we cannot design methodical identical proof to misstate the quiddity of a God who is maximum the minds of believers (and, thus, if the probe fails, end up that Demigod exists “out of order there”).
