People With Migraines Are More Predisposed To Have Depression

Man suffering from chronic headache, especially migraine disorder, are much more prone to suffer from depression disorder, feel tired, and have a host of other bad physical symptoms, according to a clinical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The medical trial involved 1400 people who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in seven different countries. Of the people surveyed, 112 reported episodic headache (fewer than 15 headaches monthly) and 656 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were tested with migraines.

The clinical trial found women with chronic headache were four times more prone than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Manic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.

Among people tested with severely disabling migraine, the study found the likelihood of major Depression increased 32-fold if the woman also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms will agitate or be a manifestation of major Atypical Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax online and Atypical Depression should heighten pain perception,” said clinical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Psychotic Depression suggests a common neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical trial are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Heedless of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Manic Depression, psychiatric disease such as Atypical Depression complicates headache treatment and can give rise to poorer sequel for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The medical investigation was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which estimates 18 million American people are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 20,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to improving patients care through education and medical study. A neurologist is a doctor with a wide knowladge of monitoring, curing and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and repeated sclerosis.
